In COMPROTware:Testtool 2.19.6 protocol communication can now be imported from another source: With support of ABB Power Grids in Mannheim, DE we implemented the import of ABB MicroSCADA/COM600 logging-files. Textfiles containing protocol logging, created with the communication monitoring/debugging interface of ABB MicroSCADA/COM600, can now be imported into CPTT. All protocols implementd in CPTT are supported.

More changes:

  • Further improvements and fixes around Remote I/O implementation (RIO), in particular with the integration of ABB RTU500 series: Among others monitored ABB SPA-Bus communication is now correctly displayed.
  • COMPROTware:Testtool 2.19.3 is adapted to and successfully tested with MS Windows 10 version 1909 (November 2019 Update).

June 2019: COMPROTware:Testtool 2.19.2 released

Many customers use COMPROTware:Testtool to ensure the availability and stability of their grid. In the 2010s to achieve this, it is necessary to carry out day- or week-long protocol monitoring or simulations.

We continued to work on this goal in the current release: When used for days or weeks a very large amounts of data is collected. In order to compensate this, we worked on our MLG file format and now compress the stored Frames. The file sizes were more than halved depending on the protocol, thus speeding up file reading.

February 2019: COMPROTware:Testtool 2.19.1 released

With COMPROTware:Testtool 2.19.1, we have successfully completed some open tasks:

  • Experimental: TLS-secured TCP/IP connections now for MODBUS TCP/IP too, both for client and server simulation. In this way, we support TLS-secured connections for all our TCP/IP-based protocols.
  • All protocol implementations now use the CPLB Design pattern "Frame Scanner NGT 2018": This provides greater robustness and problem tolerance over faulty characters on a serial line. Additionally, the new Frame Scanners are more resource-efficient, resulting in an enhanced user experience.
  • Many minor improvements ...

  • <Year 2 digits> shows the last two digits of the year of release.
  • <Patchlevel> is increased for each published Tested and Approved Release.

For this release the news are:

  • For network-based protocols, for Client simulation, the IP address of a network interface can be specified as a hint to the operating system which IP address should be used ("bind to Client address").
  • IEC 60870-5-101/-104: IEC 60870-5-7- resp. IEC 62351-5-Message are now dissected.
  • MODBUS: Consecutive 16 bit-values are presented as 32 bit floating-point-value.

November 2017: COMPROTware:Testtool 1.50.6 with Message List Single Step

Since the last release in July, we together with some end users did very intensive development on COMPROTware:Testtool :

  • We are especially proud of Message List Single Step. With this the user can now send Link Layer Frames or Application Layer Message step by step to the opposite station.
  • For many protocols we introduced the new protocol profile parameter "Time offset", which is very useful to send a device under test into the past or into the future, without the necessity to change the computerĀ“s date&time.
  • L&G TG809 also did get a lot of improvements, e.g. qualified Message List like with IEC 60870-5-101/-104.
  • Data Object Database: We added extra data types for protocols with separate address spaces per data type. For the protocols IEC 60870-5-101/-104, DNP3 and L&G TG809 we introduced protocol-specific examples.
  • MS Windows 10 version 1709 (Fall Creators Update) is supported.

November 2015: CPTT T.1.49.25 with improved file I/O operations

In the early years of telecontrol protocols the emphasis of testing lied in the interoperability between different system and device suppliers. The focus has changed in the meantime towards reliability and integrity during 24/7-operation: Today, the interest is to find even the tiniest anomalies in the protocol communication.

For COMPROTware:Testtool this means that Message Log files (MLG files) are getting bigger and bigger, operations with giant data sets (files with several 100MB size) need to be performed more and more efficiently. Reason enough to improve all file operations considerably.
