October 2020: COMPROTware:Library 4.20.6 MS Win32-Dll/PC Linux-Shlib with Software Key

With this COMPROTware:Library release we introduced a new licensing alternative: Now license granting for MS Win32-Dll/PC Linux-Shlib can also be made by a software key.

This considerably simplifies the use of COMPROTware:Library on virtual machines.

A separate license is necessary per protocol and per communication direction. Use is NOT limited by a hardware key or to a computer.

This version can be used on any number of computers, even in a virtualized productive environment. API for .NET and API for Java are included.

For more details on our protocol stacks see COMPROTware:Library.

October 2020: Development infrastructure modernized

We have worked intensively on our development infrastructure in the last few weeks.

With our virtual machines we moved away from VMware ESXi and VMware Workstation and towards [ Proxmox VE ] (based on QEMU/KVM). We have the impression that this makes handling and installing updates more efficient. At the same time, Proxmox VE copes much better with USB for VM guests with Linux. We ave finally switched off our oldest VM server (Dell PowerEdge), some Intel NUCs and Apple Minis now form our virtualization cluster.

As an additional file version management, we are now using [ GitLab ] locally in our network. This allows our developers to easily access the central master repository with our Sourec code. Because of the distribution of the individual source code files to the various protocol stacks, derived products and customer-specific projects, we will stick to our own file version management as the central repository.

If you have any questions about our development infrastructure, please e-mail us: e-mail info@realthoughts.de

March 2020: COMPROTware:Testtool 2.20.1 released

The first version of the release series COMPROTware:Testtool 2.20 for the year 2020 is now available.

Standing out with CPTT 2.20.1: Additionally to Oracle Java 8, 32 bit, [ AdoptOpenJDK 8, 32 Bit ] can be used as Java runtime environment. After Oracle Java is only available in a paid version, with [ AdoptOpenJDK ] an open and cost-free Java environment can still be used.

More changes:

  • Improvements and adaptations around the handling of station and data object names in the DataObjDb.
  • When starting a simulation or a monitoring session, for all protocols more details about protocol profile are shown. After the end of the simulation, even more statistical values are shown in Message Storage.
  • The list of available serial ports is now determined much faster.
  • Many minor improvements ...
